This shoot was honestly something else. Jason contacted me to do his and Lili’s engagement photos at this amazing old historic chapel in the Finger Lakes (for shame that I, of all people, did not know of this building). There was one caveat; they weren’t engaged yet. They were coming all the way from Philadelphia. And he was going to propose right there.

This was some of the most exciting news I’d gotten all summer. I had so much fun collaborating with him as he planned the whole thing down to every detail. I got to the chapel about twenty minutes before they did, to scout and fall into my passing role as visiting tourist photographer. I had already texted Jason the spot I thought would be great to pop the question. They arrived, I went about my business. He got down on one knee, and I ditched my cover and started shooting. She said yes. :-D

The midday sunshine was blinding that afternoon, but there were many amazing spots on the grounds to shoot. You know what else was blinding? The stunning rock Lili now has on her finger.

It was a moment of pure happiness and excitement I will hold as a very special point in my journey as a photographer. I can’t say enough about these two other than they are incredible and I’m sure will have a wonderfully happy and loving marriage. Congratulations guys!
